Dear Subscriber,
Join me in London for this special New Lines Magazine live event at the Frontline Club, exploring investigative journalism and war reporting.
About this event
What happens to far-away conflicts when the correspondents go home? What does it mean to follow a news story long after the attention of editors and the public has moved on?
In this New Lines Magazine event, investigative journalist Tam Hussein and foreign correspondent Chris Sands join New Lines’ Faisal Al Yafai and Lydia Wilson to explore how conflicts are reported.
This panel discussion will explore Hussein’s investigations into jihadi networks in Syria and human trafficking in London, as well as his long-form writing for the magazine, which was shortlisted for this year’s Orwell Prize.
Sands will be discussing the lessons he has drawn from nine years of living in Afghanistan, independently reporting from across the country. He will also talk about the challenges involved in writing his critically acclaimed book, Night Letters, which tells the story of the Afghan insurgents who inspired and nurtured Al-Qaeda.
Tickets for this event are free and registration is required. But tickets are limited to four per person. Hurry before they run out.
